The island of Andøya is best travelled to by plane.

The two Airports you can fly to are Andenes Airport (ANX) and Harstad/Narvik Airport (EVE).

Andenes Airport is only one hour away from our beautiful holiday home however flights to this airport tend to be more expensive and it only has one car rental business.

Harstad/Narvik Airport is 2.5 hours away from the house but they have 3 car rental businesses and the flights to this destination are much cheaper. We prefer to fly to this airport as the drive from there to the house is stunning and therefore travel time goes by very fast.

When travelling to us by car from central Europe we recommend the following route:

We find it easiest to drive over the Öresund Bridge in Denmark, Malmö and the border crossing in Kiruna. This way you don't have to stress about getting to the ferry on time. In Sweden, driving with a speed limit of 130 or 100 is very relaxed. There are also well-maintained rest areas every 50-100 km, with, in contrast to the German ones, free, mostly clean toilets, beautiful surroundings, often beautiful playgrounds and nice seats. There you can enjoy the break from driving and close your eyes for a moment.
